  • A steady rise in new entrant challenger brands as consumers look for authentic, purposeful brands they can connect with as an antidote to the disconnection and loneliness that came with pandemic restrictions.

  • Innovation peaking in categories that offer consumers easy waste reduction and quick-win value e.g. longer-life UHT milk and tinned fish. 

  • A surge in brands taking back ownership of the world food aisle; developing more credible and authentic versions of diasporic cultures and cuisines. 

  • Larger retailers being forced to up the ante and invest in the logistics to support direct-to-consumer and subscription models.

  • How digital meets physical with seamless service pivots including click-and-collect.
