How snacks became the new self-care

Read our trends report on why snacks are the new self-care, published on the Canvas8 trends and insight platform.

We explore why snack culture has increased, and how it’s been absorbed into the wellness and self-care industry. Three key trends have emerged:

  1. Holistic snacking: Mindful snacking including feel-good and mood enhancing snacks

  2. Scientific snacking: Snacks as medicine including functional food, with specific active ingredients targeting tiredness, sleep, stress.

  3. Subscription snacking: Enabling on-demand snacks for increased working from home and a rapid growth in children's snack subscriptions.

The fridge and home pantry have become a snack apothecary, as we look to self-medicate with snacks to make ourselves feel better or improve our mood.

We are quite partial to a snack ourselves (dark Leibniz chocolate biscuit, every time), so we fully immersed ourselves into the research for this dynamic category report.
